Comparison
Hevy vs Strong vs Fitbod
Three apps, three different answers to the same question. Hevy is the cheapest and the most used, Strong is the fastest logger and sells a licence outright, and Fitbod is the only one of the three that writes the programme for you.
Load7 publishes this page and is deliberately not in the table. Every figure comes from the vendor’s own pricing page or its App Store listing, with a source link under each app.

Price: a four times spread between cheapest and dearest
Hevy Pro is USD 23.99 a year or USD 74.99 for lifetime access. Strong PRO is USD 29.99 a year, USD 19.99 for six months, or USD 99.99 once. Fitbod is USD 15.99 a month or USD 95.99 a year, with no lifetime option.
Fitbod costs four times what Hevy does, and the reason is visible in the product. Hevy and Strong sell a place to record training you planned yourself. Fitbod sells the planning. Whether that is worth USD 72 a year more than Hevy depends entirely on whether you would otherwise write the programme.
Hevy and Strong both offer a one-off price. If you expect to still be lifting in five years, USD 74.99 or USD 99.99 once is the cheapest way to own any of this.
Free plans: two real ones and a trial
Hevy free gives unlimited logging with 4 routines and 7 custom exercises. Strong free gives unlimited saved workouts with 3 custom routines. Fitbod has no free plan at all, only a 7-day trial.
For anyone deciding without spending money, that narrows to two. Hevy is the more generous of the pair, and the extra routine slot plus custom exercises is the difference most people hit first.
The Hevy and Strong App Store listings declare no advertising. For Fitbod there is no published figure, so the table says so rather than assuming.
Who each app is for
None of the three is the best app for everyone. The shortest honest answer for each:
- Hevy
- Most people who simply want to log their training. The lowest price here and the strongest community.
- Strong
- People who value simplicity above all, Strong does one thing and does it fast.
- Fitbod
- People who want a mature, proven workout generator and do not need to talk to a coach.
FAQ
Which is the best workout app of the three?
Hevy for most people, on price and on the size of the free tier. Strong if logging speed and a one-off payment matter more than anything else. Fitbod if you want the app to decide the session, and only if you will pay, because it has no free plan.
Which has the best free plan, Hevy, Strong or Fitbod?
Hevy. Four routines, seven custom exercises and unlimited logging, against three custom routines on Strong and no free plan at all on Fitbod.
Does Strong or Hevy have AI?
Hevy Pro includes Hevy Trainer, a workout plan generator. Strong declares no AI features. Fitbod is the AI-first product of the three, running a proprietary algorithm over your sets, reps, fatigue and rest.
Which is cheapest over five years?
Hevy, at USD 74.99 for a lifetime licence. Strong lifetime is USD 99.99. Fitbod has no lifetime option, so five years of annual billing comes to USD 479.95.
Why is Load7 not in this comparison?
Because Load7 publishes the page. A comparison of three competitors is more useful without the author quietly placed at the top of it. Load7 appears in the six-app round-up instead, where the price section states outright that it is the most expensive option on the list.
